Datawarehouses are databases consisting of cleansed, reconciled, and enhanced data integrated into logical business subject areas for improving decision making.
They are enterprise scope in nature so that executives can readily understand company-wide sales or the complete business relationship with a given customer.
**Datamarts**
Datamarts are datawarehouses that target a specific subject-area, typically organized by business area,such as sales, marketing, finance, manufacturing, or customer support.
Datamarts and datawarehouses are commonly used terms, their usage is not precise. That is, a Datamart in one enterprise might be called a datawarehouse in another. The implementation processes are the same.
**Data mining**
Data mining is the process for the automatic extraction of patterns, associations, changes, anomalies,and significant structures from data. Data mining enables businesses to select, filter, screen, correlate and fuse data automatically.
Datamining is the process of extracting valid, previously unknown, and ultimately compre-hensible information from large databases. o Data mining is data driven, and is most typically used for statistical data analysis and knowledge discovery.
